All other previous OS's were user friendly but is not because you charge for it. People spend large amounts of money for hardware so the installed software should come ready to use.

You are just trying to milk people for every dollar you can get when times are tough anyway. That still applies to Office , there is a time limited "free" trial.

I am not a MS owner or employee. Hardware and software are two totally separate things. Just because you paid HP, or ACER or Lenovo or some other computer builder for the hardware, why do you think that "all" software like Windows and Office should be "free". The makers of the software are totally separate companies from the hardware makers. The Software makers have to make money some how too.

But yes, MS is definitely trying to milk every dollar they can out of Windows and Office. As a profit making business, that is their number one priority, regardless of what anyone else says.

Milking every dollar is why they switched to the Office subscription model. They figure they can make more money over the long run, and it is a steady predictable income, as opposed to the periodic rush of purchases with the old one-time payment model. My previous versions of windows came with a version of office suite installed as part of the system at no extra charge to me. The problem is, I have several documents and spread sheets that I can no longer use unless I pay a yearly fee.

There are other word processor and spread sheet programs available for free that I will use. I will have to re-do all of my previous work but it won't cost me anything but time, which isn't a problem since I am retired and on a fixed income.
